Ok, so first of all I want to make it very clear that I’m the LAST person to poke at Tom Cruise height or at someone that feels the need to wear shoe lifts.But..

I do feel that pictures like this prove a point: shoe lifts are NOT the answer.  In fact, it’s almost always that the only person the shoe lift is fooling is the wearer.  And when shoe lifts are this noticeable, it only draws attention to the wearer’s height.

Whether you like his movies or not, whether you support his religion or not, and whether you care about whatever the tabloids are posting about him and his wife (or is it his ex now?  I don’t keep up. Sorry!) it’s my opinion that any guy that has ever felt short should at least respect the guy for not only becoming one of the most successful actors of all time, but is also considered to be one of the “best looking.”  That’s a very big deal when you consider just how important male height is when men’s appearances are defined.

Can You Grow Taller? – Posture

You might have been told to “sit up straight” and “stop slouching” by your mother, but in fact she was right! A good posture is KEY to growing taller, and can add inches of height INSTANTLY. Next time you go for a walk, look at people walking, and you’ll see instantly if they have poor posture. They look shorter, and less confident. Not good.

Firstly, not exercising regularly can weaken back and stomach muscles, which are ESSENTIAL for keeping your upper body upright. Weak stomach and back muscles give you a “hunched” posture, which makes you appear shorter. Not only that, but bad posture can cause ailments such as back pain and arthritis in later life. Nice.

The best way of dealing with these problems is to do stretching exercises (see the video). These exercises will strengthen the core muscles, and will help you grow taller!

Can You Grow Taller? – Nutrition

You wouldn’t think it at first, but this is one of the most important factors in growing taller. It just goes to show, that the old proverb is true, you really are what you eat. But how can you grow taller, when there’s so many things to consider? Easy. Why? Because I’ll tell you!

After thinking about how to lay out this blog post, I’ve decided to display the growing taller nutrition information in a table. Don’t worry, you don’t need to take this all in one go, just take this step by step, and you’ll see how easy growing taller can be!

Nutrient What’s it for? What foods contain it?
Calcium Strengthens bones. Make sure to eat a lot of Calcium rich foods, since this will continue to build up bone strength until the ripe old age of 30! (That’s right, about 10 years after the end of puberty!) You can’t afford not to include this in your growing taller diet. Dairy products are very rich in Calcium, as well as dark green leafy vegetables, such as broccoli. Calcium-enriched soy products are perfect too.
Phosphorus This is used to create the compound “Calcium Phosphate”, which is behind bone strength. It also helps with retaining information in DNA, which is essential for growing taller. However, too high quantities can hinder the body’s use of Calcium. Phosphorus is vital to growing taller, in moderation. This is found in many foods, but the best sources are fish, meat and dairy.
Carbohydrates Carbs are the main energy source in the body, and used for day-to-day running of the body. However, a Carbohydrate-rich diet does not make you grow taller. One of the reasons for Far East Asians’ (Chinese, Japanese, etc) small stature is their high-Carbohydrate diet (noodles, rice). This needs to be regulated, like all nutrients, in order for you to grow taller. Rice, Pasta, Potatoes, Beans, Vegetables, the staple foods.
Proteins Just about every process in the body needs Protein. For muscles to grow larger, you need a lot of Protein. This is why weightlifters and bodybuilders take Protein supplements. It’s the same with growing taller. To grow taller, you need to take in a lot of Protein to facilitate growth. There’s two types, “Complete Proteins”, found in meat, fish, egg and cheeses, and “Incomplete Proteins”, found in nuts beans and seeds. Both are essential for growing taller.

Of course, this post only covers four nutrients required for growing taller. In reality, a good growing taller diet needs more than just Calcium, Phosphorus, Carbohydrates and Proteins. My favorite method is to find pre-written diet plans on the internet. They’re easy to get hold of, but they’re not all legitimate.
